Houthi Welcomes Mojtaba Khamenei as Iran’s New Supreme Leader: A “Devastating Blow” to Enemies
The Yemen-based Houthi movement has officially welcomed the appointment of Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khameneias the new Supreme Leader of Iran. Following the passing of his father, Ali Khamenei, the Houthi leadership described this transition as a significant strategic victory amid escalating regional tensions.

A Signal of Revolutionary Strength
In an official statement released via Telegram, the Houthi group congratulated the Iranian leadership and its people. They characterized Mojtaba Khamenei’s appointment as a “new victory” for the Islamic Revolution and a “devastating blow” to the enemies of the state, particularly the United States and Israel.
“We congratulate the Islamic Republic of Iran, its leadership, and its people on the election of Sayyid Mojtaba Khamenei as the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution at this vital and crucial moment,” the group stated.
The Assembly of Experts officially appointed Mojtaba Khamenei to the highest office in the country. His name had long been circulated as the frontrunner to succeed his father, signaling a continuity of the clerical establishment’s power.
Israel Issues Strict Warning
The transition has drawn a sharp response from Tel Aviv. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz emphasized that the Israeli military is closely monitoring the new regime’s leadership.
Katz issued a stern warning, stating that any leader who continues the Iranian regime’s agenda of threatening Israel and the “free world” would be a legitimate target.
“Any leader appointed by the Iranian regime to continue the plan to destroy Israel, threaten the US, and oppress the Iranian people will be a clear target for elimination,” Katz said in a statement. “It does not matter what his name is or where he hides.”
